"Many projects come to a close at a show, few actually start and finish in just one day!" explains Scott Kessler, sales manager, Pillar Technologies. That is exactly what happened at NPE 2003 between Pillar Technologies and Jadcore Inc.
Mr. Dean Doti, one of the owners of Jadcore, and Mr. Brian Berrisford, plant engineer, came to the show with a mission to buy corona treating (among other) equipment. Doing his homework beforehand, as most plant engineer's would, Brian had two corona treating manufacturers in mind to visit at the show. "The two chosen were based on corona treating literature that had been direct-mailed to Jadcore and recent internet searches," explains Berrisford.
"Next, I plotted our course of action by locating the companies I wanted to visit and printing a map of their location so we could easily navigate through McCormick Place. This was easy to do thanks to the CD-ROM and pre-show planning package that NPE show management mailed well in advance of show dates."
Brian explains, "We visited two corona treater companies, Pillar being the second of the two. We liked the fact that Pillar had equipment on the floor that we could see, touch and examine so we knew what we would be getting if we purchased a unit. Ultimately, we were in the market (for a new corona treater), Pillar's machine looked good and the price was right." He goes on to say, "Scott Kessler and Shawn Norton, sales engineer, offered us a show special. You just don't pass up show specials!"
A purchase order was given to Pillar right on the show floor. Confirmed with a handshake to 'seal the deal' this was a win-win situation for both Jadcore and Pillar.
